EDC and Parkeon Deploy Integrated Enforcement for Parking Meters and Mobile Parking
2014, November 21st. Parkeon, a global leader in urban mobility solutions for the parking and transit industries, and EDC Corporation, a leader in the development, support, and implementation of parking management solutions throughout the US and Canada, have recently deployed two integrated enforcement systems for parking meters and mobile parking.
In July, the City of Las Vegas went live with EDC’s AIMS enforcement application. This system allows Parking Enforcement Officers to check the status of each space and issue a citation all on the same handheld interface. The payment information is provided by Parkeon’s Pay by Space system and interfaces with the AIMS system through a web service.
The City of Syracuse went live with the AIMS solution in September. Parking Checkers enforce the metered parking, which is a mix of Pay & Display and single space meters, as well as Syracuse’s new mobile parking system, Whoosh! The Whoosh! system is provided by Parkeon. All payments made through Whoosh! are linked to a license plate number. If the Parking Checkers do not see a meter payment, they use the AIMS system to check for Whoosh! payments. To make it a quick process, the Parking Checker scans the registration sticker on the car windshield and the AIMS system makes a query for the payment. If there is no payment in the database, a citation can be written using the same handheld interface.
